S M Masood, a veteran lawyer, founding member of PPP and close aide of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, was laid to rest in his native city Gujrat who was died on Friday at the age 81. He was hospitalised a few days back for medical treatment of chest infection but on Friday morning he breathed his last.
S M Masood left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter. He had started legal practice in 1958 and later joined PPP after few months of its inception. He was elected MPA from a Lahore seat in 1973 and appointed provincial law minister. In 1977, he was elected member of national assembly and got the portfolio of federal law minister in the cabinet of Z A Bhutto. His funeral prayer was offered at his Lahore Shadman's residence. Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Advocate General Punjab Ashtar Ausaf, judges of Lahore High Court and large number of lawyers attended the prayer.
