LAHORE: The Bank of Punjab (BOP), in partnership with Mastercard, has launched Pakistan’s first Mastercard World Elite Credit and Debit Cards, expanding its premium banking portfolio and bringing a globally recognised payments proposition to customers in Pakistan.

The launch builds on BOP’s growth to become Pakistan’s largest credit card issuer despite entering the market later than established players. It marks the next step in the Bank’s efforts to translate that growth into a broader choice of payment products, with a focus on the needs and aspirations of premium customers.

Combining global payment acceptance with premium travel, dining, lifestyle and entertainment benefits, the World Elite proposition brings greater value to everyday spending and international travel. The introduction of both credit and debit cards broadens the offering for customers with different payment preferences, while connecting them to distinctive experiences in Pakistan and abroad.

The collaboration brings together BOP’s customer relationships and banking capabilities with Mastercard’s international payments network and World Elite offering. It supports the Bank’s wider transformation agenda, in which digital innovation and customer experience remain central to product development.

Zafar Masud, President and CEO, The Bank of Punjab, said: “BOP’s growth to become Pakistan’s largest credit card issuer, despite entering the market later than established players, reflects our commitment to innovation and customer experience. The launch of Pakistan’s first Mastercard World Elite Credit and Debit Cards is another milestone in our transformation and our ambition to set new benchmarks in premium banking. We are focused on delivering world-class payment solutions and experiences that meet our customers’ aspirations.”

Mark Elliott, Division President, East Arabia Mastercard, said: “We are delighted to deepen our partnership with the Bank of Punjab through the launch of Mastercard World Elite Credit and Debit Cards in Pakistan. World Elite brings together innovative payment technology, global connectivity and differentiated lifestyle experiences. This launch reflects our shared commitment to elevating customer experiences and supporting the evolution of Pakistan’s payments ecosystem.”
