KARACHI: Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Thursday urged the senior civil servants to translate their professional training into tangible improvements in governance, administrative efficiency and public service delivery, stressing that government performance should be judged by the quality of services provided to citizens.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of the 40th Senior Management Course (SMC) at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Karachi, as chief guest, he emphasised the need for professional competence, institutional strengthening, transparency and effective coordination among government departments.

The minister said civil servants played a pivotal role in ensuring effective governance and addressing public needs, adding that professional training institutions such as NIPA equipped officers with the leadership skills, knowledge and vision required to meet evolving administrative challenges.

He urged the graduating officers to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the course to improve the performance of their respective departments, particularly in strengthening local government institutions and ensuring efficient delivery of public services.

Highlighting the importance of responsive governance, Shah said transparency, efficiency and commitment must remain central to the functioning of public institutions.

Earlier, NIPA Karachi Director General Nasir Iqbal Malik said the institute was focused on developing leadership, strategic thinking, managerial efficiency and decision-making capabilities among senior civil servants through structured training and modern management approaches.

He said the successful completion of the Senior Management Course was not merely an academic achievement but an important step towards assuming greater professional responsibilities.

He urged the officers to translate their training into practical institutional reforms, upholding integrity, innovation and excellence in public service.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of course completion certificates among the graduating officers by the chief guest, followed by a group photograph with NIPA management, faculty members and participants.
