HANGU: At least six members of the same family, including two women and three children, were killed in a shooting inside a house in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police confirmed Tuesday.
According to details, the incident took place in the Sarokhel area, within the jurisdiction of Doaba Police Station, where gunfire inside a residential property claimed the lives of six people.
District Police Officer (DPO) Salahuddin Kundi confirmed that the victims included the head of the household, Noor Rehman, two women and three young children. All six died at the scene.
Preliminary investigations have identified the suspect as Noor Rehman’s nephew, who is reportedly a drug addict, according to the police.
The DPO said an alleged dispute had developed because Noor Rehman used to prevent his nephew from bringing friends who were reportedly involved in drug use into the house. Police have taken custody of the bodies and shifted them to Doaba Hospital for the required legal and medical procedures.
DPO Hangu said investigators were examining all possible aspects of the incident to establish the exact circumstances and motive behind the killings.
Police have also launched raids to arrest the suspect, who fled after the incident. Further investigation is underway.
