PITB signs MoU with UoL, UoS

Published Updated

LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on Monday signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the University of Lahore (UoL) and the University of Sargodha (UoS) under the Chief Minister’s Initiative, Makerspace Punjab, to promote research collaboration, innovation and technology-driven product development.

PITB Director Skills Development Ahmad Islam Syan and UoL Director Strategy and Internationalisation and Director Innovation Hub Dr Amjad Pervez signed the MoU. Manager Innovation Hub Fakhar Abbas Sherazi and the Makerspace Punjab team were also present.

The MoU with the University of Sargodha was signed by PITB Director General e-Governance Sajid Latif and Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Tasawar Hayat, in the presence of PITB Director Skills Development Ahmad Islam Syan and the Makerspace Punjab team.

Under the agreements, students, researchers and faculty members will gain access to specialised laboratories, technical mentorship, training and prototyping facilities. The partnerships will also encourage joint research, entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange while bridging the gap between academic research and industry applications.

Makerspace Punjab, a Punjab government’s initiative implemented by PITB, aims to strengthen Pakistan’s hardware innovation ecosystem through advanced facilities for product design, prototyping, testing and indigenous product development.

In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated that our collaborations with leading academic institutions will strengthen the link between research and industry, enabling students and researchers to transform innovative ideas into practical, market-ready products.

Makerspace Punjab reflects its commitment to fostering indigenous innovation and building a sustainable technology ecosystem, he added.
