HYDERABAD: To mark Kashmir Black Day, the District Administration Hyderabad organised a solidarity rally from the Deputy Commissioner Complex led by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen Memon.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mehwish Buriro, officials from various government departments, town chairmen, representatives of social organisations and organisations representing persons with disabilities, along with schoolchildren, participated in the rally in large numbers.
At 10:00 a.m. participants observed a one-minute silence in solidarity with the people of Kashmir. They carried banners and placards in support of Kashmir and chanted slogans, including “Kashmir Will Become Pakistan.”
Addressing the rally, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon said that October 27, 1947, was a dark day in the history of the Kashmiri people, when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir and laid the foundation for occupation. He said that the people of Kashmir had endured decades of oppression, repression and human rights violations, yet their resolve for freedom and the right to self-determination remained unwavering.
He urged the international community and the United Nations to take serious notice of human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and play an effective role in ensuring the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The Deputy Commissioner said that Kashmir was Pakistan’s jugular vein and that the Pakistani nation stood firmly with its Kashmiri brothers and sisters. He stressed that a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute is essential for lasting peace in the region.
