Published Updated

KARACHI: Boltay Huroof organised the Accessibility Beyond Barriers Conference 2026 at the IBA City Campus, to discuss inclusive education and access to information for people who are blind or visually impaired.

The conference highlighted challenges faced by learners with visual impairments, particularly the limited availability of Braille textbooks and other learning materials.

Speaking at the conference, S H Umar, CEO of Boltay Huroof, said: “Eight years ago, the idea of a book readable by both sighted and blind readers simultaneously seemed impossible to many.”

Those attending included Lubna Farooq Malik, CEO of the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF); Hirra Qaiser, CSR Head at the National Bank of Pakistan; Asif Abrar, UNICEF Education Specialist; and Dr Luay Shabaneh, UNFPA Representative.
