ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar called for a collective regional approach to counter security threats, including cross-border terrorism linked with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from Afghan soil.
Addressing a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Tuesday, he said that Pakistan remained engaged in mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
“We will continue to support all efforts for dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes for lasting peace and stability. Our diplomatic strategy is guided by our firm belief that regional challenges require collective, cooperative, and sustainable multilateral solutions,” he said.
The deputy prime minister stressed the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and multilateral cooperation for lasting peace and stability in the region.
“Pakistan firmly believes that dialogue and diplomacy offer the most effective path to resolving regional tensions. Our efforts to facilitate engagement and de-escalation in West Asia and the Gulf reflect our commitment to constructive diplomacy.”
Dar added, “We propose the recommendations to deepen economic cooperation among SCO countries and expand international partnerships and empower the SCO Chambers of Commerce and Business Council. Pakistan recommends that the SCO adopt a forward-looking strategy focused on joint technological innovation, climate resilience, energy security and secure supply chains.”
Dar remarked that Pakistan remains steadfast in its resolve to foster a peaceful, interconnected, and prosperous SCO community.
