- Violations of Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) suspended on Monday two Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officers and repatriated two others to its headquarters for further investigation over an unauthorised press statement and “a call to halt official work”.
According to an FBR statement, the suspended officers are in BS-20 and BS-19, while the two repatriated officers are both in BS-20.
The FBR said the conduct prima facie violated Rules 23 and 26 of the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026, framed under the Civil Servants Act, 1973, and constituted misconduct under Rule 34.
The tax authority said it would initiate disciplinary proceedings against the officers under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020, adding that it would not tolerate such misconduct.
