Govt cuts petrol price by Rs3.63, increases diesel's by Re0.31 per litre

  • New prices effective for October 16
Published Updated

Pakistan government on Thursday reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.63 to Rs390.23 per litre, while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Re0.31 to Rs396.96 per litre, effective for Friday, October 16, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division said the change was necessitated by global events, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

The revised prices will remain effective for October 16.

The Petroleum Division said the change was necessitated by global developments, including movements in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

On Wednesday, the government had increased the price of petrol by Rs1.20 to Rs393.86 per litre, while reducing the price of high-speed diesel by Re0.17 to Rs396.65 per litre.

Meanwhile, brent crude prices fell over 1% on Thursday as potential US steps to ease restrictions on Russia’s “shadow fleet” tankers soothed price concerns, but attacks on ships in the Middle East and Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure limited the decline.

The international benchmark lost $1.15, or 1.1%, to $104.91 a barrel by 1157 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures were up marginally by 31 cents, or 0.3%, to $95.40, amid expectations for a large draw in weekly inventories.
