Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package: Senate panel seeks record of 5,000 jobs
ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary panel on Wednesday asked the government for complete record of the 5,000 jobs announced under the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package, including the measures taken to create the posts, the number of vacancies filled and the current status of implementation.
A meeting of the Senate Sub-committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas was held here under the convenorship of Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi. Senators Dinesh Kumar and Syed Kazim Ali Shah attended the meeting.
Officials from the Establishment Division and the Planning Division briefed the committee on the implementation of the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package, development projects, allocation and utilisation of funds, employment opportunities and the progress of various schemes in Balochistan.
Convener Senator Jan Muhammad said that the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package was a crucial yet an important initiative aimed at safeguarding the rights of the people of Balochistan, promoting development and addressing the sense of deprivation in the province. He noted that significant initiatives had been undertaken during the Pakistan Peoples Party’s tenure; however, the desired results could not be achieved due to gaps in implementation. He stressed the need for serious efforts to address the province’s issues and fulfil the commitments made under the package.
The Planning Division briefed the committee on development projects worth Rs 348 billion for Balochistan and four projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). Senator Dinesh Kumar raised concerns over the information presented and emphasised that the committee should be provided the accurate and verified figures. The Convener directed the concerned authorities to submit comprehensive details of the funds allocated under the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package, the total cost of each project, allocations made against individual schemes and the utilisation of funds.
Senator Dinesh Kumar called for a complete list of all approved development projects, concerned departments and schemes for Balochistan. He stressed that the record should clearly reflect the release and utilisation of funds, work completed and progress achieved on ongoing projects.
