SBCA introduces town-wise system

Published Updated

KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has introduced a town-wise administrative system in Karachi and transferred and posted officers and staff to the city’s various towns.

The restructuring was done under official notifications issued in line with directives from the Sindh government’s Local Government and Housing, Town Planning (HTP) Department.

The changes take immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders. Officers, including Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, senior building inspectors and building inspectors, have been assigned responsibilities for different towns.

The towns covered under the new arrangement include Baldia, Chaneser, Gadap, Mominabad, Mauripur, Nazimabad, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Orangi, Saddar, Safoora, Shah Faisal, Sohrab Goth, Gulberg, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Ibrahim Hyderi, Jinnah, Korangi, Landhi, Liaquatabad, Lyari, Malir and Model Colony.

According to the SBCA, the initiative aims to strengthen building control, curb illegal construction, improve administrative efficiency and ensure greater transparency in town-level operations.

The newly posted officers have been directed to assume their respective responsibilities immedia-tely.

The authority expects the town-wise system to improve enforcement of building regulations and facilitate the timely resolution of public complaints.
