ISLAMABAD: A high-level joint meeting was held on Friday, co-chaired by the Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, and the Federal Minister of Energy (Power Division), Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, to review the progress of the CAREC Tranche-3 (Rajanpur – Dera Ghazi Khan – Dera Ismail Khan) project.
The joint session was convened at the specific request of the Federal Minister for Power Division to review progress on the CAREC Tranche-III project.
During the meeting, progress on all four lots of the project, aimed at improving connectivity among Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail Khan, was reviewed. Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) briefed the participants on the overall implementation status of the project.
The meeting also discussed matters relating to the Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plan (LARP), including land acquisition, resettlement of affected people, and the measures required to fulfil the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) requirements. Emphasis was placed on addressing outstanding issues and ensuring the timely completion of the project.
Leghari stressed the need to accelerate project progress, effectively address implementation-related matters and to ensure coordinated efforts to resolve the issues at hand.
Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) Sardar Ammar Ahmad Khan Leghari, Sardar Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman Khan Dreshak and Sardar Shamsher Ali Mazari, along with Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Ashfaq Ahmad Chaudhry and other relevant officials, also attended the meeting.
