KARACHI: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has recorded its highest-ever monthly revenue collection, recovering Rs 2.74 billion in September 2026 and taking its total collections for the first quarter of FY2026-27 to Rs7.584 billion.

According to a KWSC statement issued on Friday, the utility’s Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui attributed the financial progress to reforms aimed at improving transparency, enforcing financial discipline and strengthening the corporation’s operational capacity. He said stronger revenues would help support water supply, sewerage improvements and development projects.

Chief Commercial Officer Haris Sarfraz said the increase reflected an intensified recovery drive, closer engagement with industrial, bulk and government consumers, and improved mechanisms for collecting outstanding dues.

The corporation introduced separate recovery strategies based on the length of time bills had remained unpaid. Long-term defaulters faced measures including water-connection disconnections, while recent defaulters were offered reminders and instalment facilities to clear their dues.

Sarfraz said meetings with industrial, bulk and government consumers helped verify outstanding bills and resolve payment disputes. Teams of KWSC staff and outsourced personnel were also deployed across the city for swift recoveries.

The corporation urged consumers to pay their bills and clear outstanding dues on time, saying stronger revenue collection was essential to improving its financial sustainability and maintaining public services.
