ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed nine terrorists, including four key commanders, during Intelligence-Based Operations against terrorists in North Waziristan, according to security sources.
The operations were carried out in the Palangzai, Nadeem Kot and Kot Khizri areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, with several terrorist hideouts destroyed and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition recovered.
Security sources said that four senior commanders were among those eliminated in these operations, which were carried out in Palang Zai, Nadeem Kot, and Kot Khazri areas of North Waziristan District.
The commanders were Khalid Raza, Kamran, Musa and Maftoom, sources said, adding that a large quantity of weapons and explosives were also recovered from the militants.
Security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the slain terrorists during the successful operations. Multiple terrorist hideouts were also destroyed as part of the intelligence-based actions.
The operations represent a major blow to terrorists as security forces continue efforts against terrorist elements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision.
Earlier, security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, eliminating 13 Khawarij terrorists.
The forces successfully targeted the hideouts of Fitna-al-Khawarij in North Waziristan and surrounding areas.
Maintaining constant surveillance on the movements of Fitna-al-Khawarij, the security forces launched a decisive operation against them.
Separately, Station House Officer (SHO) Banda Daud Shah, Daud Khan and his gunner, Farhad, were martyred when unidentified armed men opened fire on a police party in the Karpa area within the jurisdiction of Banda Daud Shah police station in Karak.
According to police, the attackers had been lying in wait for the police party and fled the scene after the attack.
The bodies of the two policemen were shifted to the hospital for post-mortem examinations, while a search operation had been launched in the area under the supervision of the Karak district police officer.
Later, the funeral prayers of the two martyred policemen were offered at the New Police Lines in Karak.
Senior government officials, including the Kohat Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General, as well as the victims’ families, attended the funeral.
A police contingent presented a guard of honour to the martyrs after the prayers, following which their bodies were transported to their ancestral villages.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday commended the professional capabilities of officers and personnel of the security forces for successfully conducting operations against Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in North Waziristan, killing nine terrorists.
In a statement, President Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for their successful operation against the Fitna al-Khwarij in North Waziristan. “The elimination of 9 terrorists, including 4 key Khariji commanders, is a manifestation of the security forces’ professional competence and bravery,” he added.
Zardari said every conspiracy of the terrorists’ foreign patrons and their local facilitators will be thwarted and operations under the resolve for stability against the Fitna al-Khwarij will continue until the complete elimination of terrorism.
In his statement, PM Shehbaz said effective operations were carried out against Fitna al-Khwarij in the Palang Zai, Nadeem Kot and Kot Khizri areas of North Waziristan. He said the successful operations reflected Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to completely eliminate terrorism from the country.
The Prime Minister lauded the officers and personnel of the security forces for their commendable services and sacrifices to eradicate terrorism and establish sustainable peace in the country.
He reiterated the government’s resolve to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists seeking to create unrest and undermine peace and stability in the country.
In his statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the professionalism and operational capability demonstrated by the security forces during the action.
Mohsin Naqvi said the security forces had once again thwarted the intentions of terrorists through effective operations.
He expressed pride in the brave personnel who carried out the missions and safeguarded the country against threats.
The interior minister said the actions of the security forces reflect their commitment to protecting national security. He paid tribute to the officers and soldiers involved in the operations and acknowledged their role in maintaining peace and stability.
Naqvi stated that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the fight against terrorism. He said the people of Pakistan support the efforts of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in confronting terrorist threats and protecting the country.
He further said that operations against Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khwarij are continuing with full force and will continue in the future. The ongoing actions demonstrate the state’s resolve to counter terrorism and prevent any attempt to undermine national security.
