Govt further increases petrol price by Rs2.31, diesel by Re0.78 per litre

  • New prices effective for Friday, Oct 9
Published Updated

Pakistan government further increased the price of petrol by Rs2.31 per litre to Rs398.96 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Re0.78 to Rs395.72 per litre, effective for Friday, October 9, 2026.

According to a Petroleum Division notification, the price of petrol was raised from Rs396.65 to Rs398.96 per litre, while the price of diesel was increased from Rs394.94 to Rs395.72 per litre.

The revised prices will remain effective for October 9, 2026, under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division said the price revision was necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

On Wednesday, the government increased the price of petrol by Rs1.82 per litre to Rs396.65, while reducing the price of diesel by 91 paisa to Rs394.94 per litre.

Globally, oil prices jumped on Thursday on persistent worries about supply from the Middle East amid an increase in attacks on shipping in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, while the US cut output as a hurricane menaced offshore production.

Brent crude futures were up $4.55, or 4.54%, at $104.75 a barrel by 1205 GMT — the highest in over a week. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained $4, or 4.53%, to $92.28, its highest since October 2. Both contracts rose over $5 a barrel earlier in the session.
