LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Ali Hussam Asghar, Senior Vice President Sardar Usman Ghani and Vice President Chaudhry Khadim Hussain have congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on international recognition for the ‘Apni Chat, Apna Ghar’ project, describing it as a proud achievement for Punjab and Pakistan.

The LCCI office-bearers said on Tuesday that the recognition reflected the impact of people-centric development initiatives and would help project a positive image of Pakistan internationally. Well-designed housing and welfare projects could promote inclusive development, improve social well-being and create economic opportunities for related sectors, they added.

Meanwhile, addressing a delegation of the Plastic Manufacturing Traders Association at the LCCI, Ali Hussam Asghar expressed concern over difficulties faced by plastic manufacturers and traders due to actions by the environment department. He urged Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take notice of the issue and ensure a fair and conducive regulatory environment for legitimate businesses.

The delegation apprised the LCCI leadership of alleged difficulties caused by environment department officials, maintaining that the plastic manufacturing sector was not only engaged in manufacturing but also contributed to the collection, recycling and management of plastic waste.

The LCCI president said regulatory measures should be taken in consultation with the LCCI and relevant stakeholders to avoid unnecessary difficulties for businesses.
