Governor says peace indispensable for fostering business activities

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that peace is indispensable for fostering business activities in the country.

He said the public has categorically rejected the politics of protest, adding that those who attempt to halt the wheels of national progress are enemies of the state.

He was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Chairman Adyan Sadiq Lone and other office-bearers of the Outdoor Advertising Association at Governor House, Lahore. Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yaseen administered the oath to the association’s newly elected office-bearers.

The governor remarked that the continuity of business activities is vital for the growth and stability of the national economy.

He stated that sustained economic progress is vital to ensure the country’s development. He noted that the public has rejected the politics of protest and anarchy. He further added that politicians face accountability at all times and on every forum. He remarked that politics, when pursued with the intention of serving the people, is akin to an act of worship.

Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin stated that the outdoor advertising industry plays a vital role in the national economy and the growth of the media sector. He said the government is committed to providing relief not only to the business community but also to the common man. He added that the government is taking comprehensive measures to boost business activities and facilitate industries.

He noted that investment and the adoption of modern technology within the advertising industry would be encouraged. He expressed the hope that the newly elected leadership would play an effective role in the development of the outdoor broadcasting sector and the welfare of those associated with it.
