ISLAMABAD: At least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and several others injured after Pakistani security forces thwarted an attempted cross-border attack in the Gulistan sector on the night of September 24–25, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said on Friday.
In a fact-check statement, the ministry rejected claims by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence that Afghan forces had destroyed a Pakistani post near Spin Boldak without suffering any casualties.
The ministry termed the Afghan claims false and fabricated, maintaining that Pakistani forces successfully repelled the attempted aggression and subsequently targeted opposing Taliban posts.
According to the statement, at least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and several others injured during the border engagement and subsequent retaliatory action by Pakistani security forces.
The ministry also shared visuals of the incident, stating that footage of the engagement had already been widely circulated on social media and covered by various media outlets.
It maintained that the visuals provided evidence of the border confrontation and the response by Pakistani forces following the Afghan Taliban’s attack.
The ministry accused the Afghan authorities of spreading misinformation regarding the incident and attempting to dismiss Pakistan’s account as propaganda.
The statement concluded by reiterating that the Afghan Ministry of Defence’s claims were fabricated and contradicted the facts of the border engagement.
