LONDON: Arabica coffee futures were slightly lower on Tuesday with strong exports from Brazil helping to ease concerns about short-term supply tightness, although low exchange stocks helped underpin prices.

COFFEE

Arabica coffee fell 0.05percent to USD2.9035 per lb by 1114 GMT. The market hit a 10-week low of USD2.8150 on Monday. Brazil’s green coffee exports in September to the second week stood at a daily average of some 13,500 metric tons, up 51.5percent from the daily average in September 2025, government data showed on Monday.

Exchange stocks stood at a 27-year low of 217,932 bags as of September 14. At the same time last year, stocks stood at 666,337 bags.

There were also 63,955 bags from Brazil and 960 bags from Kenya pending grading. Dealers said the market’s recent weakness also reflected the prospect of a large crop in Brazil next year.

“Given the favourable weather conditions observed so far, expectations for the 2027/28 crop remain positive, supported by good fruit development and the initial establishment of next season’s production,” Rabobank said in an update on Brazil.

Robusta coffee fell 1.2percent to USD3,494 a metric ton.

SUGAR

Raw sugar rose 0.6percent to 18.27 cents per lb. France is set for its smallest sugar beet harvest since the 1970s after heatwaves and drought shrivelled crops in the EU’s biggest agricultural producer, the country’s farm ministry said in a report on Tuesday.
