Pakistan set for LNG relief after Qatar shipments: Bloomberg
- Deliveries will allow Pakistan to avoid expensive LNG purchases from the spot market
Pakistan is expected to receive deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) after one vessel carrying Qatari fuel passed through the Strait of Hormuz, while another is set to follow, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.
According to Bloomberg’s ship-tracking data, the Al Marrouna transited the waterway earlier this week and is due to reach Pakistan by Thursday.
Moreover, another vessel carrying Qatari LNG is expected to cross in the coming days and is also heading for Pakistan, the report said, citing traders with knowledge of the matter.
Bloomberg said that the development would allow Pakistan to avoid expensive LNG purchases from the spot market.

It added that Pakistan did not award a tender to procure a shipment for September on Tuesday after it didn’t receive any offers from suppliers, indicating that the market remains tight.
Pakistan is currently facing significant challenges in securing liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries due to geopolitical disruptions and high spot market prices.
Pakistan heavily depends on its long-term supply deals with Qatar for stable and more affordable LNG.
However, renewed hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz led to the cancellation of a Qatari LNG shipment scheduled for July 2026 and prompted Qatar to declare force majeure, disrupting LNG imports. This situation forced Pakistan to seek emergency supplies and look for alternative fuels or expensive spot cargoes.
