ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that Pakistan would extend full cooperation to strengthen ties with Italy, particularly in agriculture, information technology and artificial intelligence, industry, textiles and people-to-people contacts.
The prime minister made the remarks while talking to Italy’s newly appointed ambassador to Pakistan, Ugo Ciarlatani, who called on him.
Welcoming Ciarlatani, Sharif said Pakistan and Italy enjoyed “excellent bilateral relations” and expressed his best wishes for Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, recalling his previous meetings with her.
He also congratulated Meloni on completing four consecutive years in office, describing her as Italy’s longest-serving leader.
Ciarlatani thanked the prime minister for the opportunity to meet and said he would make every effort during his tenure to further promote and strengthen relations between the two countries.
He also expressed his commitment to working closely with the Pakistani government in all areas of mutual interest.
