PARIS: European Union’s soft wheat exports in the 2026/27 season that began in July totalled 4.92 million metric tons by September 6, up from 4.16 million a week earlier but down 1 percent year-on-year, European Commission data showed on Tuesday.
Romania was the largest EU soft wheat exporter this season with 2.52 million tons, followed by Lithuania with 0.85 million, Bulgaria with 0.43 million, Poland with 0.38 million and Germany with 0.35 million.
EU barley exports had reached 1.65 million tons, up from 1.50 million tons the previous week but down 39 percent year-on-year.
However, the Commission said export data was not complete for France since the beginning of calendar year 2024, for Bulgaria and Ireland since the beginning of marketing year 2023/24, and for Greece since January 2026.
In imports, flows of maize into the EU so far in 2026/27 had reached 3.57 million tons, against 3.16 million tons the previous week and 35 percent above the volume a year earlier.
