Alhamra, UET ink MoU

Published Updated

LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council and the University of Engineering and Technology’s (UET’s) Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science have joined hands to build stronger connections between technology, culture, literature, and the arts, marking a significant step toward embracing new possibilities for creativity and cultural expression in the digital age.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed at a ceremony between the two institutions, establishing a framework for collaboration in academic, artistic, cultural, and technological fields. Executive Director, Lahore Arts Council, Alhamra, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal, and the Head, Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science, UET, Dr. Shehzad Asif, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.

The partnership brings together Alhamra’s experience in the cultural and creative sectors with UET’s expertise in computer science and emerging technologies. The collaboration aims to create new opportunities for innovation, knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and youth engagement, while exploring how technology can contribute to the evolution of contemporary artistic and cultural practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Nawaz Gondal said that the collaboration with a leading academic and technological institution such as UET was an important step toward aligning the cultural sector with the rapidly changing digital landscape. He said that connecting technology with culture, literature, and the arts could open new avenues of creative expression and provide young people with opportunities to explore ideas beyond conventional boundaries.

Dr. Shehzad Asif said the partnership would serve as a bridge between technological advancement and creative expression, encouraging innovation and new ways of thinking. He noted that modern computer science could offer valuable possibilities for the cultural and artistic sectors, while engagement with the arts could broaden perspectives on creativity, human expression, and cultural identity.

Under the MoU, both institutions will work together through knowledge and expertise sharing, joint activities, collaborative projects, and initiatives involving academic, artistic, cultural, and technological disciplines. The partnership will also encourage young people to explore the intersection of technology and creativity and develop innovative approaches to cultural expression.

This initiative shows Alhamra’s ongoing commitment to meet contemporary needs and strengthen Pakistan’s cultural and artistic landscape. By building partnerships with leading academic and technological institutions, Alhamra is creating new platforms where culture meets innovation and artistic tradition meets the possibilities of the future.
