ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assumed the office of Acting President of Pakistan.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has assumed the responsibilities of the Acting President, as Asif Ali Zardari is visiting the Republic of Austria from 27 to 31 August 2026. Meanwhile, the Chairman Senate has also proceeded abroad on an official visit.
In view of the absence of both the President and the Chairman of the Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly has to perform the functions of the President until the return of the President or the Chairman of the Senate to Pakistan.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will continue to discharge his responsibilities as Acting President in accordance with the constitutional provisions governing the functions of the President.
