PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has allowed hunting of Russian pigeons on three days in a week from September 1 to October 31, 2026.

According to notification, hunting will only be permitted on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and a Small Game Shooting Licence will be mandatory for the hunters.

A hunter will be allowed to hunt a maximum of eight Russian pigeons per day. A compensation of Rs5,000 per pigeon will be imposed for hunting beyond the prescribed limit.

Hunting of Russian pigeons will be permitted across the province. However, hunting before sunrise and after sunset is prohibited. Action will be taken against those hunting without a licence or on days other than those specified.

The Wildlife Department will continuously monitor the Russian pigeon population and may immediately suspend hunting if a decline in the number of birds is observed.
