HYDERABAD: A total of 300 women cotton workers from 10 villages in district Sanghar completed a six-month functional literacy programme and appeared in their final examinations.
The examinations were conducted by a committee constituted by the Directorate of Literacy and Non-Formal Education, Government of Sindh. The examination process was supervised by District Education Officer (Literacy), Sanghar, Muhammad Aslam Leghari and others.
Sindh Community Foundation (SCF) established the 10 Suhaee Adult Literacy Centres in January 2026 under its Decent Work Programme, with support from the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN).
Trained local female facilitators conducted two-hour classes daily, enabling women to learn reading, writing and basic digital skills while managing their household and agricultural responsibilities.
SCF head Javed Hussain, Muhammad Aslam Leghari, Zubaida, Raees Alvi and others spoke on the occasion.
