PESHAWAR: In Zarmilan area of Toi Khulla tehsil of Lower South Waziristan, two local elders were shot dead by unidentified armed men, police informed on Sunday.
According to police, the incident took place in Dawa Sarakai area of Zarmilan, where the attackers targeted the both elders and fled the scene after the shooting.
The deceased were identified as Malik Badshah, son of Khayal, from Kamarani branch of Suleman Khel tribe and Haji Gul, a contractor, from the Morakhan Khel branch of Suleman Khel tribe.
Police said motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined. Further investigation is underway, while security and surveillance measures have been intensified in the area.
Local residents have expressed deep concern over the incident and demanded a transparent investigation and arresting those responsible.
Political and social circles in Waziristan also strongly condemned the incident, saying such tragic acts are highly damaging to peace and stability in the region.
