LAHORE: A panel discussion held here on Saturday paid tribute to the life and literary legacy of poet and activist Fahmida Riaz, drawing around a hundred intellectuals, researchers, students, and human rights advocates to SAFMA’s Shadman office.
Titled “An Evening of Reflection: Poet Fahmida Riaz’s Activism,” the event was jointly organized by Fikr o Amal and Naya Daur. Moderated by Huma Ejaz Zaman, the session featured speakers Raza Rumi, Tanveer Jehan, and Rashid Rehman, who examined Fahmida Riaz’s resistance poetry, her defiance of sociopolitical injustice, her pioneering role in Urdu feminist literature, and her lifelong commitment to democracy and human rights.
The audience included Dr Nasir Abbas Nayyer, Zahid Hussain, and Dr Saima Erum, whose presence added weight to an interactive discussion on the continuing relevance of resistance literature today.
