ISLAMABAD: The Government and the people of Pakistan Wednesday observed the seventh anniversary of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people and its steadfast support for their inalienable right to self-determination.

In their messages marking Youm-e-Istehsal, the President, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic and moral support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people. They emphasised that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The leadership reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue advocating the Kashmir cause at all international forums and underscored that India’s unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 cannot alter the internationally recognised disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister addressed a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General, highlighting the latest developments in IIOJK and urging renewed efforts to implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination.

Pakistan’s diplomatic missions abroad, together with the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora, also held commemorative events to raise international awareness of the situation in IIOJK and reaffirm support for the Kashmiri people’s just cause.

Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Foreign Secretary, participated in a solidarity walk on Constitution Avenue, Islamabad, to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people.

Addressing the rally, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Amir Muqam reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast political, diplomatic and moral support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people and their inalienable right to self-determination, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and OIC resolutions.

The participants of the rally paid tribute to the courage, resilience, and unwavering resolve of the people of IIOJK.

Pakistan remains steadfast in its support for the just struggle of the people of Jammu & Kashmir for the realisation of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
