Interior minister approves uniform system for issuing police character certificate

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved a uniform, online system for police character certificates nationwide, streamlining the process for citizens and also directing a similar system for International Driving Permits.

A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Tuesday gave in-principle approval to a uniform nationwide system for issuing police character certificate.
According to a social media post shared by the Ministry of Interior, Minister Naqvi said police clearance certificates will now be issued through the National Police Bureau.
He said the previously complex process for obtaining a police clearance certificate has now been streamlined, accelerated and made fully online.
The interior minister also directed to establish a uniform system for issuing international driving permits.
“A standardised system for police clearance certificates and international driving permits will make the process easier for citizens travelling abroad,” he said.
Naqvi said transforming National Police Bureau into an active and dynamic institution is one of the government’s top priorities.
The interior minister also said police martyrs are the pride of the nation and their great sacrifices for maintaining peace and eliminating crime in the country will always be remembered.
