KARACHI: Five people were killed in rain-related incidents across Sindh during the past 24 hours. The province’s monsoon death toll went to 10 since early July 2026.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, four people – including three children – drowned in rainwater in Tharparkar district.
A man was killed in Badin after the roof of a house collapsed. Eight other people have been injured in rain-related incidents since the start of the monsoon season on July 3, 2026.
Heavy rainfall continued in several districts, with the highest precipitation during the past 24 hours recorded in Kot Ghulam Muhammad taluka of Mirpurkhas district at 112 millimetres.
Mirpurkhas city received 110 mm, Hussain Bakhsh Mari taluka 106 mm, while Hyderabad city and Hyderabad Rural each recorded 85 mm. Latifabad received 82 mm of rain.
The PDMA said two breaches developed in the Mirwah Canal in Badin district, but the district administration repaired them preventing further damage.
The disaster management authority said it had deployed 24 dewatering vehicles to affected districts during the past 24 hours, including Hyderabad, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas and Karachi, to help drain accumulated rainwater.
Relief supplies, including 250 tents, 250 tarpaulins, 250 kitchen sets, 250 jerry cans and 1,000 mosquito nets, have also been distributed to support affected communities, the PDMA said.
The PDMA Director General Syed Salman Shah urged residents to take precautions during the ongoing wet spell, advising people to avoid standing under trees during thunderstorms, stay away from water bodies because of the risk of lightning strikes, and refrain from travelling through flooded areas unless necessary.
