ISLAMABAD: Under the vision, directives, and full support of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division), Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has been continuously conducting a successful crackdown against electricity theft and defaulting consumers throughout the IESCO region.
Chief Executive IESCO, Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood, stated that since the launch of the anti-electricity theft operation in September 2023, action has been taken against 7,073 electricity thieves, resulting in penalties exceeding Rs 609.1 million. During the campaign, 3,299 offenders have been arrested by the police. Furthermore, under the recovery drive, outstanding dues exceeding Rs 7 billion have been recovered from more than 232,000 consumers.
Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood further stated that, under the guidance of Chairman IESCO Dr. Tahir Masood, the IESCO Board of Directors, and the IESCO management, the company is implementing the Government’s directives with a zero-tolerance policy against electricity theft and payment defaults. Owing to this strong teamwork, IESCO has established itself as one of the best Pakistan’s leading electricity distribution company.
