LAHORE: Acting on the directions of Inspector General of Pakistan Railways Police, Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan the Railways Police Karachi Division conducted a major successful operation and recovered stolen railway tracks and other railway material worth millions of rupees. Six suspects were arrested, while approximately 32 tonnes (31,800 kilograms) of stolen railway material were taken into custody.
According to details, SHO Railways Police Station Karachi City, Asad Khan, along with a police team, was conducting routine checking and surveillance in the KCR closed section when four suspicious individuals were spotted carrying heavy railway material near Orangi Railway Station. The suspects were identified as Hazratullah son of Syed Rasool, Ilahi Bakhsh son of Haji Khan, Israfeel son of Umar Daraz, and Raz Muhammad son of Gul Baz Khan.
The police immediately took action and arrested all four suspects. Three cut pieces of railway track and tools used for cutting railway tracks were recovered from their possession.
The recovered railway material and tools were taken into custody, and a case was registered at Railways Police Station Karachi City.
During the investigation, the arrested suspects disclosed that they used to sell the stolen railway tracks at Rehmani Warehouse located in Haroonabad. Acting on their identification, the Railways Police immediately raided the warehouse, where Muhammad Siddique Soneja son of Ayub Soneja and Muhammad Umar Soneja son of Muhammad Ayub Soneja were questioned regarding the purchase and sale of railway tracks. During the investigation, both individuals admitted that the material stored in the warehouse was stolen railway property.
During the search of the warehouse, stolen railway material worth millions of rupees was recovered. The material had been skilfully concealed beneath other goods and machinery. Approximately 32 tonnes (31,800 kilograms) of railway material were taken into custody. Both suspects were subsequently arrested in accordance with the law and shifted to Railways Police Station Karachi City.
Inspector General of Pakistan Railways Police, Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan, commended the Karachi Division team for the successful operation and stated that indiscriminate action would continue under a zero-tolerance policy against all elements involved in damaging national railway assets, stealing railway material, and its illegal purchase and sale.
IGP Railway stated that the protection of railway infrastructure and railway assets, as well as the provision of safe travel facilities to passengers, remains a top priority of the Pakistan Railways Police. He further emphasized that no leniency would be shown to anyone involved in such criminal activities. He further stated that the protection of national railway assets would be ensured at all costs and that organized criminal elements involved in crimes against railway property would be brought to justice.
According to the Railways Police, further investigation into the case is underway, while operations have also been intensified to arrest other individuals involved in the organized network.
