ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Friday hiked the rates of both Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG).
The Ogra announced a sharp increase in Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for July, effective from July 1, 2026.
The price hike ranges between USD5.76 and USD6.45 per MMBtu.
The new rates reflect a substantial rise over the previous month, driven by the cost of five spot cargoes procured by the Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL).
The OGRA notified transmission and distribution prices for both major gas utilities— Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL)— which have increased by more than 32 percent.

For SNGPL, at the transmission stage, an increase of 32.12 percent was recorded, with the tariff rising from USD17.9394/MMBtu in June to USD23.7020/MMBtu in July. On the distribution side, the tariff increased from USD19.5228/MMBtu to USD25.8388/MMBtu, reflecting a 32.35 percent hike.
Meanwhile, SSGCL’s transmission tariff increased from USD16.3679/MMBtu to USD22.2251/MMBtu, registering a 35.78 percent hike. On the distribution side, tariff rose from USD18.6360/MMBtu to USD25.0872/MMBtu, marking a 34.62 percent increase.
However, the Ogra notified an increase in rates of domestic and commercial cylinders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for month of August.
According to the notification issued by OGRA, the LPG new rates of LPG has been fixed at Rs254 per kg.
Following, the price of 11.8kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs152, taking the new price to Rs3,000.93 and the price of 45.4kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by Rs585 to Rs11,546.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has already been directed to carry out a study to assess the impact of daily price revision of petroleum products on inflation in line with the international best practices and establish a mechanism to curb inflationary pressures.
The directives were issued by the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) in a recent meeting, where it also expressed concern about overcharging for LPG. The retail prices of LPG are higher than the prices notified by OGRA, signalling the need for effective monitoring and enforcement measures.
