The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has clarified that privately managed schools across the province may determine their weekly teaching and working days according to their own schedules and operational convenience.
The clarification came through a circular issued on Friday by the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions. A copy of the circular was shared by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah on social media.
The circular states that the directive issued on July 29 regarding a six-day working week does not apply to privately managed schools.
“It is hereby clarified for all privately managed schools across the province of Sindh that they may manage their weekly working days according to their own schedules and operative convenience,” the circular said.
The clarification follows confusion over a July 29 notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department, which had stated that all public and private educational institutions under its administrative control would observe a six-day working week from August 1 until further orders.
Under the revised position, the six-day working week will continue to apply to public sector schools, while private schools have been given the flexibility to decide their own weekly schedules.
