KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief, Monem Zafar Khan on Thursday demanded justice for young trader Mir Raza Ali, who was abducted and later found dead, calling on the Sindh government and police to immediately arrest those responsible and ensure the safety of citizens.
Monem visited the victim’s residence in Bahadurabad, where he met the deceased’s father, Mir Hussain, and other family members to offer condolences and express solidarity with the bereaved family.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the Sindh government and police had failed to protect the lives and property of citizens, adding that the abduction and murder of Mir Raza Ali reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi.
Condemning the incident, he said the Pakistan Peoples Party-led provincial government and the police had “completely failed” to ensure the safety of traders and ordinary citizens. He said incidents of theft, robbery, kidnapping and other crimes continued across the city on a daily basis.
He also rejected official claims that crime had declined in Karachi, saying such assertions did not match the ground reality.
Monem demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the abduction and murder of Mir Raza Ali and called for exemplary punishment for the culprits. He also urged the authorities to take effective and practical measures to curb crime and safeguard the lives and property of the public.
Speaking on the occasion, the victim’s father, Mir Hussain, said his only son went missing in the early hours of July 28 after leaving home, telling the family he would return shortly. He said the family later found his body in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
“My son had been running his own business for the past five years. He never came back. We only received his body,” he said, demanding the immediate arrest and punishment of those responsible for the killing.
