LAHORE: The Lahore district administration has said that water flow in the Ravi River is currently normal and all safety embankments are secure; however, a warning system and an emergency relief plan have been prepared to address any unexpected situations.

The district administration said that they have finalised all precautionary measures to handle potential flood situations during the ongoing monsoon season, said Assistant Commissioner Ravi Humaira Shah and representatives from the irrigation department while briefing Deputy Commissioner Captain Muhammad Ali Ijaz (R) during his visit to Tehsil Ravi on Monday. He was accompanied by MCL CO Kaleem Yousuf.

During his visit, he inspected the current water levels and structural integrity of the safety embankments at the River Ravi and the old Shahdara Bridge and directed all field staff to remain on high alert.

On this occasion, the DC emphasised that the protection of citizens’ lives and property during the monsoon is the district administration’s top priority. He directed the officers to ensure that all machinery is ready at all times for the immediate drainage of water from low-lying areas, and he urged the field staff to diligently monitor the safety embankments. “The administration is fully mobilised to tackle the challenges of heavy rains during the monsoon, with close coordination maintained among all relevant departments,” he added.

The administration also appealed to citizens for their cooperation during the flood situation, urging them to adopt precautionary measures. In case of any emergency, citizens should contact the control room at 03070002345 or reach out via social media to facilitate timely responses.
