Field Marshal Munir vows to continue operations against terrorists in Balochistan

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday said security forces would continue targeted operations against terrorist groups until terrorism and its facilitators are eliminated from Pakistan.

Addressing participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, he said lasting peace in Balochistan would be achieved through sustained efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies, backed by public support, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Munir said Pakistan remained committed to dismantling terrorist infrastructure wherever it posed a threat to the country and its people.

He stated that foreign-sponsored proxies had sought to fuel violence and undermine stability in Balochistan but said such efforts would be defeated through a firm response by the armed forces with the support of the people.

Describing Balochistan as a province rich in natural resources and home to resilient people, he said the federal and provincial governments were pursuing development initiatives aimed at improving the province’s socio-economic conditions through an inclusive approach.

The army chief also praised the role of civil society, academia, media and youth in promoting national integration and contributing to long-term peace and prosperity in Balochistan.

He stressed the importance of national unity and perseverance in advancing the country’s development.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session, during which participants reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s stability, progress and sovereignty, the ISPR statement said.
