BALAKOT: Several vehicles carrying tourists were left stranded, while rain drains were flooded after heavy rain lashed Balakot in Mansehra and its outskirts on Sunday.
Landslides disrupted the flow of traffic at several places.
Rain resulted in the sudden flooding of Balakot, Damgla, Shawal and Boli nullahs.
Rescue 1122 staffers shifted tourists to safe locations.
The department asked citizens and tourists to stay away from rain drains and streams during monsoon rains.
On the other hand, the Met Office forecast rain for Lahore and other cities of Punjab. It was partly cloudy in the Punjab capital in the morning.
The Met Office predicted that the maximum temperature would go up to 39 degrees Celsius later in the day, while it would remain 32 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.
Breeze was blowing in the morning at the speed of 10 kilometers per hour, while the moisture level was recorded at 66 percent.
It was partly cloudy in Karachi in the morning.
The weather department forecast light rain for the port city for the next two days.
The maximum temperature would go up to 35 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
The level of humidity in the morning stood at 75 percent, while winds were blowing from the West at the speed of 19 kilometers per hour.
The maximum temperature was predicted to touch the 35 degrees Celsius mark.
Mainly hot and very humid weather is expected over most parts of the country.
However, thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, are expected at isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Potohar region, Islamabad, northeastern Punjab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Gujranwala, surrounding areas and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Also on Sunday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued an alert for torrential rains in the upper and central parts of the country during the next few days due to which there were fears of deluge in streams, nullahs and landslides in mountainous areas.
It said that heavy rains could result in an increase in water levels in rivers Ravi and Chenab besides urban flooding in a number of cities, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Sheikhupura.
