Beautification projects: Inquiry body formed to probe use of substandard material
LAHORE: On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a four-member high-level inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the alleged use of substandard construction material in beautification projects in Tehsil Kamalia and other areas of Toba Tek Singh.
According to the official notification, the Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) will serve as the convener of the committee. The Director General Monitoring and Evaluation, Planning and Development Board, a member of CMIT, and another member to be nominated by the convener will serve as members of the inquiry committee.
The committee has been tasked with inspecting the beautification projects in Kamalia and other parts of Toba Tek Singh. It will examine all relevant project records and review the quality of construction materials, project designs, and other technical aspects.
The inquiry committee will determine any irregularities, deficiencies, negligence, substandard workmanship, and the use of inferior construction materials. It will also identify those responsible for any lapses. The committee has been directed to complete its investigation and submit its report to the Punjab chief minister within three days.
