PESHAWAR: JUI-F and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) joined hands at district level and started consultations for ensuring the holding of local bodies’ polls without any further delay.
In this connection, a consultative meeting of both political parties at the level of district Peshawar was held at Ali House with former KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali in the chair.
Those who attended the meeting included former MNA Nasir Khan Musazai, general secretary of JUI-F, Peshawar, Ahmad Ali Darwaish, former district Nazim, Mohammad Umar, Malik Siraj and former Tehsil Chairman Kaleemullah.
PPP was represented by Raza Ullah Chagarmati and general secretary Khalid Khan. The meeting of both parties were in consensus that prolong delay in holding local bodies polls in the province was against both the constitutional requirements and democratic norms.
The participants of the meeting said that for the provision of basic facilities to the people, the conducting of local bodies polls with immediate effect was essential.
The representatives of PPP paid tributes to former KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali and the committee formed by the JUI-F for local bodies’ polls. They said that the formation of the committee had brought together political forces on a single platform on national and popular demand of the people.
