ISLAMABAD: Pakistan imported mobile phones worth USD 1.889 billion in fiscal year 2025-26 compared to USD 1.492 billion during 2024-25, registering a growth of over 26.55 percent.

Official data revealed that, in terms of rupees, the total value of mobile phone imports stood at Rs 530.492 billion during fiscal year 2025-26, compared to Rs 416.937 billion in the last year, registering a 27.24 percent growth.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, Pakistan’s mobile phone imports saw a 11.88 percent growth, totaling USD 141.556 million in June 2026, compared to USD 126.527 million in May 2026.

Year on year, mobile imports witnessed a 2.62 percent growth when compared to USD 137.941 million in June 2025.

Pakistan imported mobile phones worth USD 1.494 billion in the fiscal year 2024-25, registering a fall of 21.31 percent, compared to USD 1.898 billion during the 2023-24 fiscal year.

In terms of Pakistani rupees, the total value of mobile phone imports stood at Rs 417.351 billion during the fiscal year 2024-25. This represents a 22.09 percent decline when compared to Rs535.690 billion in the same period of 2023-24.

Overall telecom imports into Pakistan stood at USD 2.690 billion during the fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting a growth of 27.97 percent when compared to USD 2.102 billion during the same period of 2024-25.

The local manufacturing/ assembling plants manufactured/ assembled 11.17 million mobile handsets during the first five months of calendar year 2026, compared to 1.91 million imported commercially.

Official data revealed that Pakistan assembled 101,005 5G-enabled mobile handsets during May 2026, compared to 553,079 during 2025.

The local manufacturing/ assembling plants manufactured/ assembled 30.21 million mobile handsets during the calendar year (January-December) 2025, compared to 2.37 million imported commercially.

The local manufacturing/ assembling plants manufactured/ assembled 11.17 million mobile handsets, including 4.92 million smartphones and 6.25 million 2G phones.

Besides, as per the PTA data, 72.3 percent of mobile devices are smartphones, and 27.7 percent are 2G on the Pakistan network.
