LAHORE: The CM Punjab Sports Academies Games are scheduled to be held from August 6 to 14, the Sports Board Punjab announced on Thursday. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that the teams comprising players enrolled in the CM Punjab Sports Academies would compete in the inaugural event, with contests to be held in different age groups.

He said the academies were producing promising young talent and the CM Punjab Sports Academies Games would provide the athletes with an opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive environment.

He further said that this initiative is part of the Punjab government’s efforts to promote sports in line with the vision of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz. “The CM Punjab Sports Academies Games would help a lot in identifying and nurturing the emerging talent for future national and international competitions,” he added.

Moreover, the training sessions for young athletes are in progress across the province under the CM Punjab Sports Academies, organised by the Sports Board Punjab.

More than 40 children received modern training at the CM Punjab cricket academy at Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Experts coaches M Usman and Badal Babar conducted the training sessions, focusing on modern batting and bowling techniques. The participants were also taught proper shot-making skills and methods of striking the ball effectively.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that more than 2,500 boys and girls were currently receiving training at the CM Punjab Sports Academies in various sports disciplines across the province. “Over 50 qualified coaches are imparting modern training to young athletes, helping them develop their technical skills and competitive abilities,” he said.
