LAHORE: A high-level World Bank delegation, led by Clelia Rontoyanni, met Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Moazzam Iqbal Sipra at the PRA headquarters on Wednesday to discuss ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing Punjab’s tax administration.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the PRA’s reform agenda, modernization initiatives and key institutional programmes. Both sides reviewed measures to make the province’s tax system more transparent, efficient, digitally driven and taxpayer-friendly.
The WB delegation appreciated the initiatives introduced under the leadership of Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, particularly the Authority’s achievement of record tax revenue collection. The two sides also agreed to further strengthen the ongoing technical cooperation between the World Bank and the Punjab Revenue Authority.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said the Punjab government is committed to establishing a citizen-centric, efficient and transparent tax system through the use of modern technology. He said efforts to provide taxpayers with simplified, digital and online services would help improve compliance and further increase revenue collection.
He said the PRA has also undertaken special measures to broaden the tax base and promote a stronger tax culture across the province. He added that, alongside public awareness and outreach campaigns, the taxpayer complaint registration and grievance redressal mechanism would be made more accessible and user-friendly.
