LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday and discussed the country’s situation in context of the prevailing global scenario.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to promote the proceedings of the Punjab Assembly through mutual coordination. They also discussed legislative matters relating to prison reforms.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the Speaker to ensure the participation of both treasury and opposition members in the legislative process.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan appreciated the chief minister for presenting what he termed an outstanding policy at the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee. He also praised the launch of the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” (My Farm, My Livelihood) scheme and congratulated the chief minister on the balloting held under the initiative.
The chief minister described the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme as the achievement of the entire team and said the Punjab government was introducing new public welfare projects every day. She said the government’s focus was now on underdeveloped areas, where electric buses were being introduced on roads and modern agricultural machinery was being brought to improve the farming sector.
The CM said the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” scheme had provided land and livelihood opportunities to 30,000 unemployed families.
