LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), organized a road show on the industry business-led training and job placement programme to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and promote demand-driven skills development for Pakistan’s youth.

The session was chaired by LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol and attended by Director General NAVTTC Regional Office Punjab Asfa Maqbool and NAVTTC Consultant Mudassir Iqbal who gave a detailed presentation on the objectives, implementation mechanism and opportunities available under the Industry Business-Led Training & Job Placement Programme.

The LCCI President said Pakistan possesses one of its greatest assets in the form of its young population but a significant portion of this workforce remains unskilled. He stressed that equipping youth with market-relevant technical and vocational skills is essential for increasing employment opportunities, enhancing industrial productivity and boosting the country’s foreign exchange earnings through skilled manpower exports.

Saigol assured NAVTTC of the LCCI’s full support in connecting industries with the training initiative and encouraging businesses to identify their workforce requirements.

Director General NAVTTC Regional Office Punjab Asfa Maqbool said that NAVTTC has always been committed to working closely with the private sector because industries are best placed to identify the skills they require. She said the industry business-led training and job placement programme has been designed to ensure that government-funded training directly addresses market needs and leads to sustainable employment. She said the Chamber’s support is needed in ensuring that deserving unemployed youth receive training that enhances their employability.

She expressed confidence that with the active involvement of LCCI, industries would help identify genuine skill gaps, nominate eligible trainees and facilitate their placement after successful completion of training.
