COLOMBO: Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Friday as losses in communication services stocks outweighed gains in IT shares, leaving the benchmark down 0.97percent for the week.
Here are some details: The CSE All Share index settled down 0.19percent at 22,178.73, extending losses to a fourth straight session. Tess Agro PLC and Waskaduwa Beach Resort PLC were the top percentage losers on the CSE All Share index, falling 6.7percent and 5.6percent, respectively. Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 30.6 million shares from 47.4 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover rose to 1.54 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($4.60 million) from 1.52 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
