A tuition center roof collapse in Lahore, Pakistan, tragically killed at least 14 children and injured several others during classes, with rescue operations continuing.

At least 14 children were killed and several others injured after the roof of a tuition centre collapsed in Lahore’s Kahna area on Tuesday, Aaj News reported citing rescue officials and hospital authorities.
The roof caved in while around 30 children were attending classes, trapping them under the debris.
According to Rescue 1122, initial reports suggested that eight to 10 children had been trapped, but rescuers later found that nearly 30 children were inside the tuition centre at the time of the incident.
Rescue teams launched an immediate operation and have so far pulled 15 children from the rubble. All the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Hospital authorities at THQ Kahna confirmed that 19 children were brought to the facility. Fourteen of them succumbed to their injuries, while five remain under treatment. Rescue officials said four to five of the injured children were in critical condition.
According to Rescue 1122, the collapsed room had a roof supported by T-R girders, which suddenly gave way.
Rescue operations were continuing till the filing of this report as emergency teams searched the debris to ensure no one remained trapped. The cause of the collapse has not yet been officially determined.
