ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi after he failed to appear before the court in a case registered against him over allegedly misleading remarks about state institutions.
Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah, while hearing the case, reissued warrants for Afridi in a case registered against him by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for his continued absence from the court.
The court ordered the police to arrest Afridi and produce him before the court. The court adjourned the hearing till July 8. Afridi is accused of making misleading remarks against state institutions, damaging their credibility. The NCCIA registered the case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.
The first information report (FIR) was registered against Afridi on behalf of the state and under Sections 11, 20 and 26-A of the PECA.
